About the program…
Which way are the winds blowing in DC, and what does the forecast hold for tax and estate planners and their clients? Matthew Kadish will give our annual update. As usual, he’ll update us on the various hot button issues and political trends, who’s in/out/up/down, and how it affects the prospects for tax reform, estate/gift /GST changes, or other mischief that Congress may have in store for us and our clients as we head towards the 2014 mid-term elections.
Matt Kadish is an attorney and shareholder in the Cleveland law firm of Kadish, Hinkel & Weibel. His practice covers a wide range of tax-related areas, including estate planning and business succession, foreign bank account reporting (FBAR) and related issues, entity taxation, exempt organizations, and representation of clients before the Internal Revenue Service and U.S. Tax Court. Matt formerly served as an attorney-advisor to Judge Herbert L. Chabot of the U.S. Tax Court, and received his LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law, his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, and his B.A. from Williams College. Prior to practice in Cleveland, he practiced in Honolulu, Hawaii, and Washington, D.C. Matt speaks nationally on a range of tax and estate-planning related topics. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, and is listed in Best Lawyers in America (Tax – both Litigation & Practice, and Trusts & Estates, and as 2013 Cleveland Tax Law “Lawyer of the Year”) and as an Ohio Super Lawyer (Tax). The Estate Planning Council of Cleveland has previously honored him with its Distinguished Estate Planner Award (2012) and Exceptional Service Award (2010). In his abundant free time, Matt represents the nation’s small businesses with the Small Business Council of America (SBCA), the voice of privately owned business in Washington on income and estate tax, benefits and health care matters. He has served for many years as the SBCA’s Vice-President of Legislation, and testified in 2007 at the invitation of the U.S. Senate Finance Committee on what tax relief would help small businesses. Since 2012, Matt has served as CEO of the SBCA.
