About the Program
This presentation provides practical insights for managing equity-based compensation and other types of incentive compensation for corporate executives, entrepreneurs and employers. It covers key considerations for owners and employers when evaluating trade-offs between stock-based compensation plans and alternatives such as phantom stock plans and other types of incentive programs, and it provides in-depth guidance for executives on navigating the complexities of their equity-based compensation. From the corporate executive's perspective, the presentation explores a variety of strategies, including evaluating different types of stock-based compensation, integrating these into lifetime wealth planning, and effectively managing stock options. From the employer perspective, the presentation will also explore alternatives to equity-based compensation.
About the Speakers
Robert W. Dietz is a Senior Vice President and the National Director of Tax Research for Bernstein's Investment and Wealth Strategies Group. With nearly two decades of experience at the firm, Robert is responsible for leading Bernstein’s tax planning research and ensuring the firm’s wealth management services and advice remain cutting-edge. Robert's expertise in developing and implementing tax-efficient investment strategies has made him invaluable to the firm's high-net-worth clients. He joined the firm in 2006 as a Private Client Associate before becoming an Investment Planning Analyst in 2011. In 2023, he was appointed National Director of Tax Research. Robert earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in finance from Augsburg University in Minneapolis, MN, and a Master of Science in Taxation from DePaul University in Chicago, IL. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and a member of the CFA Society of Minnesota and the Twin Cities Estate Planning Council. Robert is a recognized expert in his field and has published numerous articles on wealth management and tax planning. He serves on the faculty of the American Bankers Association National Trust and National Graduate Trust Schools. Robert is based in the firm's Minneapolis office and is committed to helping clients achieve their financial goals through effective tax planning and management.
Patty Shlonsky serves as Partner-in-Charge of UB Greensfelder’s Cleveland office guiding development, client service, business, and operations efforts. With more than 30 years of experience, Patty’s practice focuses on assisting clients in the establishment, qualification, and maintenance of all types of employee benefit plans. She advises clients regarding employee benefit compliance issues, benefits issues which arise in mergers and acquisitions, privacy and data security issues under HIPAA, health benefits, executive compensation, and represents clients involved in governmental and private dispute resolution. Patty also has comprehensive experience handling all types of ERISA litigation. She has achieved the highest ranking, AV Preeminent®, from Martindale-Hubbell®, and is ranked as one of Ohio’s leading Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation lawyers by Chambers USA and is named to The Best Lawyers in America® in Employee Benefits Law. Patty earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Miami University and graduated with honors from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.
