About the Program
The presentation will cover the pros and cons of the primary business succession options and transaction alternatives for business owners. Transition to the next generation, management buyouts, ESOPs, and third-party sales (strategic and private equity) will be covered in detail so that advisors have enough information to start making an informed decision. Examples of real life transactions will be described that show the effectiveness of the strategy, including calculations of proceeds and tax effects. Common planning myths regarding these transition alternatives will be discussed and debunked, while attempting to give business owners and their advisors the unbiased knowledge to begin planning the most appropriate transition for the business.

About the Speaker
Dan is the Managing Director of Opportunity Capital, a merchant banking firm, and has been an M&A advisor to business owners for almost 25. He helps clients to transition their ownership in a way that fits with what they actually want to do. Working with owners to help determine what is most important to them - price, generational transfers, legacy, growth, etc., he has been able to bring options to the owners' table that other advisors just don't know how to execute.  Having closed more than 100 M&A transactions, he brings a deep and diverse experience to business owner clients.  Dan previously worked at The Koptis Organization, Keybank/McDonald Investments and EdgePoint Capital Advisors. He earned a Bachelors in Psychology and an MBA in Finance, as well as holding securities licenses 24, 7, 63 and 79.  He lives in Solon, Ohio with his wife and three children.
