Sea Change: Intergenerational Wealth Transfer
Three major forces of change — changes in federal and state tax laws, recent legislative enactments, and a variety of environmental dynamics — have altered, and will continue to alter, the shape of estate planning. As a result, wealth transfer plans often are often outdated or lack the necessary flexibility to navigate a world of ongoing change. This can expose plans to missed opportunities, inefficiencies, or more damaging — and unintended — consequences. Please join BNY Mellon Wealth Management and the Estate Planning Council of Cleveland as we discuss how this new estate planning climate came about and, more importantly, what to do about it.
Jere Doyle is an estate planning strategist for BNY Mellon Wealth Management and a senior vice president of BNY Mellon and has been with the firm since 1981. He provides wealthy individuals and families throughout the country with integrated wealth management advice on how to hold, manage, and transfer their wealth in a tax efficient manner. Jere is the editor and co-author of Preparing Fiduciary Income Tax Returns, a contributing author of Preparing Estate Tax Returns, a contributing author of Understanding and Using Trusts and a contributing author of Drafting Irrevocable Trusts in Massachusetts, all published by Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, and he is also a reviewing editor of the 1041 Deskbook published by Practitioner's Publishing Company. Jere speaks regularly at national professional education programs and conferences on various topics, has been quoted in numerous business publications, and has appeared on CNBC, MSNBC and CNN.
