About the program…

This presentation will include an update on current legislative and IRS issues affecting exempt organizations.  Attendees will also explore some new trends in charitable gift structures, including creative uses for split-income gifts like charitable trusts and gift plans, that combine commercial and charitable elements to maximize financial benefits for clients.

About the speaker…

Nancy Hancock Griffith has served as an attorney and consultant in the field of exempt organization representation, and philanthropic and gift planning, since 2005, providing strategic planning, compliance and technical counsel, program implementation, and guidance on a wide range of business, governance, and planning issues to nonprofits, individuals, and professionals.  Previously, she was the Director of Institutional Advancement for The Cleveland Music School Settlement and the Director of Major and Planned Gifts and Director of Endowment and Planned Giving for The Cleveland Orchestra.  Prior to her work in planned giving and development, Nancy practiced corporate and securities law in Cleveland, first with the law firm of Thompson Hine, and then as Vice President in the corporate law department of KeyCorp.  Nancy graduated magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, from the Case Western Reserve University School of Law, and received her Bachelor of Arts in Music and English, graduating summa cum laude, from Concordia University in Ann Arbor.  Nancy currently serves on the boards of trustees of Cleveland Play House, the Singing Angels, the Hermit Club and the Northern Ohio Planned Giving Council, is a Partner with SVP Cleveland, is a past president and current member of the Northern Ohio Planned Giving Council, and is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Cleveland.  In addition to her professional activities, Nancy organizes the Allegheny Jazz Party, a nationally recognized weekend-long event each September here in Cleveland, showcasing between 20 and 30 of the country’s top jazz artists.  Nancy is also an amateur competitive ballroom dancer, competing in Pro-Am rhythm and smooth division competitions throughout the United States and Canada.

Reservation Policy – All attendees are encouraged to register in advance and walk-in reservations will be accepted on a space-available basis only.  Meeting cost is $25 for members when paid in advance before noon 04/13/15, $40 for members at the door, $40 for guests, and $200 for a table of six guests (please submit names to admin@epccleveland.org by 04/10/15).  If you reserve and are unable to attend, please call the office to cancel by noon 04/13/15 to avoid a no-show reservation billing.

Continuing Education – EPC Cleveland will request credit for this program from the CFP® Board of Standards for CFP® designation holders.  In addition, a certificate of completion will be available for those CTFAs, CPAs, and CWS designees who feel the program satisfies their continuing education requirements.

*Parking Options

Option 1:  Reduced parking fees are available on a space-available basis at Ampco Euclid Gateway Garage (740 Euclid Ave., entrances on Euclid & Prospect) to those who enter after 11:01 am and exit before 2:29 pm.  Guests should present ticket to the reception desk at The City Club for validation.  After validation and if within the timing restrictions, the parking fee is $3.

Option 2: Through a special arrangement between The City Club and The Metropolitan at the 9 (2017 E. 9th Street, Cleveland, Ohio 44115), guests are able to take advantage of a $10 valet rate.  To take advantage, tell the valet you are attending an event at The City Club.  Once at The City Club, pick up a blue ticket from the reception desk.  Present this ticket to the valet upon claiming your car.  This option is available to those who park at or later than 11:01 and pick up their vehicle before 2:29 pm.
